Bakeries and brunch in Gràcia, Barcelona: 6 spots

· · 4 min read

This follows on from my Barcelona coffee shop guide: where to have breakfast and get good pastries in Gràcia and Sant Gervasi. This is also where you'll find Origo Bakery and Flor de Gràcia, which reviewers rate as the best pastries on my whole list. All the places are from my list of saved spots, and the descriptions are put together from Google Maps reviews.

In short

  • Best pastries: Origo Bakery and Flor de Gràcia. There's often a queue at Flor de Gràcia.
  • A neighbourhood coffee shop: Yako Coffee, tiny, with batch brew, fair prices and the owners' dog.
  • Bikini sandwiches: Nook Coffee in Sant Gervasi, plus banana bread and iced coffee.
  • Evenings too: Ours also opens in the evening on Fridays and Saturdays.
  • Morning sun: Raw Studio, with a menu that changes often and outdoor seats that catch the morning sun.

Gràcia and Sant Gervasi

Origo Bakery

Gràcia · bakery · 1–10 € (≈$1–11) · Mon–Fri 8:00–20:30, Sat–Sun 8:00–19:00
Google Maps · website · Carrer de Milà i Fontanals, 9

According to Google Maps reviews (4.7 from 1,700+): a bakery with homemade bread and pastries that reviewers call a masterclass. Standouts include the crema catalana pastry, the rhubarb pastry, the vanilla roll, strawberry pastries, the chocolate cookie and a fluffy focaccia. Not too sweet, good coffee, but pricier than an ordinary bakery.

Flor de Gràcia

Gràcia · bakery · 1–10 € (≈$1–11) · Mon–Fri 8:00–21:00, Sat 9:00–21:00, Sun 9:00–15:00
Google Maps · Instagram · Carrer de Bruniquer, 9

According to Google Maps reviews (4.8 from 620+): a bakery that makes its dough on site and bakes all day; you can watch the baker at work. Reviewers praise the crisp croissants at an honest price, pistachio rolls, cinnamon rolls, sugar brioche and a focaccia-like pizza, and there are vegan buns. There's often a queue. Seating is one bench outside, and there's only one gluten-free option.

Yako Coffee

Gràcia · café · 1–10 € (≈$1–11) · Mon–Fri 8:00–19:00, Sat–Sun 9:00–13:30 and 15:00–18:00
Google Maps · Instagram · Plaça de Gal·la Placídia, 14

According to Google Maps reviews (4.8 from 230+): a tiny neighbourhood café where you're greeted by the owners and their dog, Yako. Reviewers praise the batch brew and cortado, honest prices, cakes and vegan options; many think the coffee beats the specialty chains nearby. Lots of people take it to go; drinks are sometimes not hot enough.

Nook Coffee

Sant Gervasi · café and breakfast · 1–10 € (≈$1–11) · Mon–Fri 8:00–18:00, Sat–Sun 9:00–14:00
Google Maps · Instagram · Carrer de Marià Cubí, 13 bis

According to Google Maps reviews (4.9 from 190+): a cosy neighbourhood café with a well-balanced espresso, iced coffee, banana bread and bikini sandwiches that one visitor called the best of their trip. Calm atmosphere, good music, fast and friendly service. Some find the flat white a little weak.

Ours

Sant Gervasi · breakfast and brunch · 10–20 € (≈$11–23) · Mon–Thu 8:00–16:00, Fri–Sat 8:00–16:00 and 19:00–0:00 (Sat from 9:00), Sun 9:00–16:00
Google Maps · website · Carrer de Santaló, 20

According to Google Maps reviews (4.6 from 250+): a small, quiet café for breakfast or a quick lunch, also open in the evening on Fridays and Saturdays. Reviewers like the flavour of the food, the courgette pancakes and the friendly waiters. Downsides: small portions, extras that quickly make a dish expensive, and being asked to pay and tip before the food arrives.

Raw Studio

Sant Gervasi · café and breakfast · 10–20 € (≈$11–23) · Mon–Fri 8:00–15:00, Sat 9:00–14:00, closed Sun
Google Maps · website · Carrer de l'Avenir, 66

According to Google Maps reviews (4.4 from 510+): a small minimalist café that feels like the living room of someone with great taste. The menu changes regularly; reviewers love the pancakes, eggs, banana bread and yogurt with granola and fig compote, and the outdoor seats catch the morning sun. A running club starts here on Thursdays at 7:00. The kitchen sometimes falls behind, with dishes and drinks arriving at different times.

One last thing

Go to Origo and Flor de Gràcia in the morning, while everything is fresh and before it sells out. And mind the weekend: Raw Studio is closed on Sunday, Nook Coffee closes at 14:00 on Saturday and Sunday, and Flor de Gràcia at 15:00 on Sunday.
