Rooftop bars in Barcelona with a view: 6 sunset terraces

· · 5 min read

The best way to catch a Barcelona sunset is with a glass on a roof: above the Gòtic and the Rambla there are hotel terraces with pools, and on Montjuïc and just outside the city there are simple bars looking out over the whole city and the sea. Bar Marcelino and Panoramic Bar come from my list of saved places; I added the four rooftops in the centre from guides to Barcelona's rooftop bars and checked them on Google Maps. The descriptions are compiled from Google Maps reviews. For viewpoints without a bar, see Barcelona's parks and viewpoints.

Prices are Google's average spend per person, valid as of 11 October 2026. Rate: 1 € ≈ $1.12.

In short

  • Rooftop with an infinity pool: La Terraza del Central on Via Laietana, looking over the Gòtic roofs.
  • Right above the Rambla: La Isabela on the 7th floor of Hotel 1898, with a 360° view, loungers and a pool.
  • Port views: 1881 per Sagardi on the roof of Palau de Mar, and The Serras hotel terrace by the sea.
  • Cheap, no hotel: Bar Marcelino on Montjuïc, with bocadillos and sangria facing the Sagrada Família.
  • Sunset out of town: Panoramic Bar on a hill in Montgat, with a DJ at weekends.

Barri Gòtic and the Rambla

La Terraza del Central

Barri Gòtic · hotel rooftop bar · 10–50 € (≈$11–56) · daily 12:00–22:00
Google Maps · website · Via Laietana, 30

According to Google Maps reviews (4.3 from 1,200+): the roof terrace of the Grand Hotel Central, with an infinity pool and city views. Guests are surprised the food beats the usual "views first" place: reviewers praise the gordal olives, the bravas and the fried halloumi with honey, as well as the cocktails and attentive bar staff. The downsides: snacks arrive slowly, people smoke on the terrace, and it gets chilly in the evening (they hand out shawls).

La Isabela

The Rambla · hotel rooftop bar · 10–20 € (≈$11–22) · daily 12:00–23:00
Google Maps · website · La Rambla, 109, 7th floor

According to Google Maps reviews (4.3 from 430): the roof terrace of Hotel 1898, in the historic former headquarters of the Philippine tobacco company, with a 360° view over Barcelona. There's a pool, loungers and cabanas for groups, and people come for a glass of cava and snacks at sunset; prices are reasonable for the view. The food, though, gets a lot of criticism: small portions, bland rice, cold burgers. Stick to drinks.

Restaurante Informal

Port Vell · hotel rooftop restaurant · daily 7:00–21:30
Google Maps · website · Passeig de Colom, 9

According to Google Maps reviews (4.4 from 690+): the restaurant of The Serras hotel, with a roof terrace looking over the waterfront and the port. Many come for dinner and praise the service, the pesto pasta and the help choosing cocktails, though the cocktails themselves are called ordinary. Opinions on the food split, with some disappointed by the calamari and milanesa at these prices, so book ahead for the view and don't expect a culinary discovery.

1881 per Sagardi

Port Vell · rooftop restaurant and bar on a museum · daily 10:00–0:00
Google Maps · website · Plaça de Pau Vila, 3

According to Google Maps reviews (4.3 from 4,800+): a terrace on the roof of Palau de Mar, home to the Museu d'Història de Catalunya, looking out over the yachts of Port Vell. There's a Catalan restaurant (reviewers praise the turbot and the duck breast) and an outdoor bar area with its own menu, with a DJ in the evenings. Book in high season. Prices are touristy, and extras like bread and sauces are charged separately, which annoys many guests.

Montjuïc and out of town

Bar Marcelino

Montjuïc · café-bar with a view · 10–20 € (≈$11–22) · Mon–Thu 9:00–20:00, Fri–Sun 10:30–21:00
Google Maps · Avinguda Miramar, 11

According to Google Maps reviews (4.4 from 880): a simple open-air café on the slope of Montjuïc, a place for a break mid-walk with a view of the city and the Sagrada Família. Cold beer, sangria, good coffee and the house bocadillo with crispy pork loin, plus hummus for vegans. There are as many locals as tourists, so free tables can be scarce; a few reviewers complain about unfriendly staff. It closes at 20:00–21:00, so in summer you'll miss the sunset here.

Panoramic Bar

Montgat · hilltop bar · 10–20 € (≈$11–22) · Mon–Tue 17:00–23:00, Wed–Thu 17:00–0:00, Fri 17:00–1:00, Sat 12:30–1:00, Sun 12:30–0:00
Google Maps · website · Parc de les Bateries, Carrer Bateries, Montgat

According to Google Maps reviews (4.1 from 4,300+): a container bar on a hill in Montgat, a small town just north of Barcelona, looking out over the coast and the city, and one of the best sunset spots around. There's a DJ at weekends, and on Sunday afternoons entry costs a few euros with a drink included. The entrance is hard to find: about a seven-minute walk from where people park. Food and service disappoint, and the bar queue can be long, so come for the view and a drink.

One last thing

Almost all the hotel rooftops close early: La Terraza del Central at 22:00, La Isabela at 23:00, so arrive an hour or so before sunset. If you want to stay out with a view for longer, head to Panoramic Bar, open until 1 am on Fridays and Saturdays.
