Best bars in Barcelona: 9 for cocktails, natural wine, beer

· · 6 min read

Barcelona at night isn't just the clubs by the sea. The city has a strong scene of small bars: natural wine bars, craft breweries and old places that haven't changed in decades. These are the bars on my list in El Raval, El Born, Poblenou and the Eixample. For now the descriptions come from Google Maps reviews, and I'll add my own notes as I get round to them.

Prices are Google's average spend per person, valid as of 30 September 2026. Rate: 1 € ≈ $1.13.

In short

  • Bars with history: Bar Marsella (since 1820, absinthe) and Bar Mónaco (since 1973).
  • Natural wine: Bar Manifest and Cavina Vinoteca.
  • Craft beer: Garage Beer Co by the beach and Barna Brew Born.
  • Cocktails: 33|45 with a DJ and exhibitions, and Trabanqueta, late at night with live music.

Bar Marsella

El Raval · historic bar · 1–10 € (≈$1–11) · daily from 17:00–18:00 until 0:00, Fri–Sat until 2:00
Google Maps · Carrer de Sant Pau, 65

According to Google Maps reviews (4.4 from 3,800+): one of the oldest bars in the city, open since 1820. Dusty mirrors, marble tables and wooden cabinets have all survived, and Picasso and Hemingway are named among its regulars back in the day. People come here for the absinthe (and warn you about the headache the next morning). The atmosphere is the whole point; if you're just after a good bar, it may not be for you.

33|45

El Raval · bar & gallery · 10–20 € (≈$11–23) · Mon–Thu, Sun 18:00–2:30, Fri–Sat from 16:00–16:30 until 3:00
Google Maps · website · Carrer de Joaquín Costa, 4

According to Google Maps reviews (4.3 from 2,600+): an industrial-style cocktail bar with sofas, a DJ and exhibitions. An underground, alternative vibe, a young crowd, good music and drinks that are cheap for the area. Better to come early in the evening: from around 20:30 it gets very crowded and loud.

45/33

El Raval · bar · 10–20 € (≈$11–23) · Mon–Wed, Sat–Sun from 18:00 until 2:30–3:00, Thu 18:00–0:00, Fri open 24 hours
Google Maps · website · Carrer de la Riera Alta, 4

According to Google Maps reviews (4.0 from 490): the "sibling" of 33|45, a couple of blocks away. Cocktails for 5–6 €, beer at normal Barcelona prices and decent food — nachos, fries. An alternative look and crowd, and a good fit for a big group or a birthday. There's often a queue to get in and lots of people standing, and sometimes half-finished drinks get cleared from the table.

Bar Manifest

El Raval · natural wine bar · 20–60 € (≈$23–68) · Mon–Thu roughly 19:00–1:00, Fri–Sat until 2:30, closed Sunday
Google Maps · Instagram · Carrer del Marquès de Barberà, 11

According to Google Maps reviews (4.3 from 240+): a wine bar with low lighting, wood, shelves of bottles up to the ceiling and vinyl. The staff really know their natural wines, and the food is surprisingly strong: people praise the aubergine, the cucumber with tuna and the octopus roll. The kitchen is open until 23:30.

El Born

Barna Brew Born

Sant Pere, by El Born · craft beer & food · 10–20 € (≈$11–23) · Wed–Thu 17:00–23:30, Fri–Sat 12:00–1:30, Sun 12:00–23:30, closed Mon–Tue
Google Maps · Instagram · Carrer de les Basses de Sant Pere, 10

According to Google Maps reviews (4.5 from 1,700+): a narrow, industrial-style bar with a black-and-white mural and a big choice of craft beer — the owner helps you pick. The food is a pleasant surprise: cured beef, smoked sardine, meatballs, a squid sandwich, tacos. Service can be slow.

Poblenou

Garage Beer Co Poblenou

Poblenou, by the beach · craft brewery & pizzette · 10–20 € (≈$11–23) · Mon–Fri from 17:00, Sat–Sun from 13:00, until 0:00–1:00
Google Maps · website · Passeig de Calvell, 45

According to Google Maps reviews (4.6 from 1,500+): an outpost of one of the city's best-known craft breweries and, guests say, the most laid-back one: by the beach, with a spacious terrace under the palms. A big choice of beer on tap, some natural wine too, and to go with it focaccia and pizzette with excellent dough and unusual toppings.

Cavina Vinoteca

Poblenou · wine gastrobar · 20–50 € (≈$23–57) · Mon–Fri 19:00–23:30, Sat–Sun 12:00–23:30
Google Maps · Instagram · Plaça de Julio González, 7

According to Google Maps reviews (4.8 from 210): a lovely wine gastrobar not far from the beach, with a sunny terrace that's usually not crowded. Catalan wines and grower champagne, and tapas — the octopus and the artichokes with jamón get special praise, and the desserts are described as creative and very carefully made. Attentive service.

Bar Mónaco

Poblenou · old neighbourhood bar · 1–10 € (≈$1–11) · daily 12:00–15:00 and 17:00–23:00
Google Maps · Carrer de Pallars, 164

According to Google Maps reviews (4.5 from 290+): a bar that hasn't changed since 1973: pool, good music, vintage decor and a legendary owner who has spent his whole life behind the bar and pours generously. Locals only, hardly any tourists. To be honest, cleanliness is questionable — some reviews mention cockroaches — so this is a place for people who come for the atmosphere.

Eixample

Trabanqueta

Eixample, near Sagrada Família · cocktail bar · 10–20 € (≈$11–23) · Sun–Thu 21:30–2:30, Fri–Sat 22:30–3:30
Google Maps · Carrer de Mallorca, 329

According to Google Maps reviews (4.4 from 770+): a dimly lit late-night bar with live music, entertainment and karaoke. Cocktails, mojitos and above all the sangria, at reasonable prices, and sometimes a round of shots on the house. What people praise most is the very warm welcome: the hosts chat with guests like old friends. It opens late, after 21:30.

One last thing

Bars in Barcelona come to life late: almost everywhere is quiet until 22:00, and on Fridays and Saturdays many stay open until 2:30–3:00. If you want to talk and actually hear the music, go on a weeknight.
