Barcelona nightlife: 7 clubs, dance halls and bars

· · 6 min read

Barcelona goes to bed late: bars stay open until two or three, and the club dance floors only fill up towards morning. This is a selection from my list of saved places: dance halls, clubs and bars with character that aren't in my bar articles. The descriptions are put together from Google Maps reviews, and I'll add my own notes as I visit.

Prices are Google's average spend per person, valid as of 1 October 2026. Rate: 1 € ≈ $1.13.

In short

  • The most beautiful room to dance in: La Paloma in El Raval: gold, red velvet and house music until 5:30.
  • Gigs and parties until 6 am: Luz de Gas, but with a strict door policy.
  • For the decor: El Bosc de Les Fades off the Rambla, a fairy-tale forest inside a bar. Don't come for the food.
  • Rum and cocktails: Dogla, a tiny rum bar rated 5.0.
  • Irish pub with live music and football: Michael Collins, right by the Sagrada Família.
  • Cheap and neighbourly: Chipen in Sant Gervasi, average spend under 10 €.

Clubs and dance halls

La Paloma Sala de Ball

El Raval · dance hall & club · Fri–Sat midnight–5:30, Sun 18:00–22:00, closed Mon–Thu
Google Maps · website · Carrer del Tigre, 27

According to Google Maps reviews (4.4 from 1,500+): a legendary dance hall in the city centre, with a baroque interior in gold and red, a big dance floor and a balcony with booths overlooking the stage. There are both concerts and DJ nights, mostly deep and funky house, and the crowd mixes ages and nationalities. Reviewers praise the air conditioning, clean toilets, professional staff and fair drink prices. Doors open around midnight but it only gets busy after 2 am; the dance floor sometimes lacks energy, and the programme changes by night, so check the website.

Luz de Gas

Sant Gervasi · club & concert hall · 10–50 € (≈$11–57) · Thu midnight–5:00, Fri–Sat until 6:00, closed Sun–Wed
Google Maps · website · Carrer de Muntaner, 246

According to Google Maps reviews (4.0 from 7,000+): a theatrical hall with chandeliers and a stage that hosts concerts (Cuban bands, for example) and club nights. Happy guests mention good music, a grown-up crowd without the crush, and entry of around 20 € including a drink. But many complain about the door: people with tickets already bought get turned away for their age, for wearing shorts or for not fitting the "profile". Another catch: once you leave the room you can't get back in until 2:30, and many find the prices inside steep.

Bars with character

El Bosc de Les Fades

Barri Gòtic · themed bar · 10–20 € (≈$11–23) · daily 10:30–23:30, Fri–Sat until 0:30
Google Maps · website · Passatge de la Banca, 7

According to Google Maps reviews (4.4 from 17,600+): a bar dressed up as a fairy-tale forest, with trees, plants, special lighting and sound; many find it very much in the spirit of Gaudí. It's self-service at the counter, drinks are cheap, and there's plant milk for coffee. The food rarely gets praise: people complain about over-salted dishes, sugary coffee, items that aren't available, a kitchen that closes early, rude bartenders and a not-so-clean toilet. Come for the atmosphere and a drink, not for dinner.

Dogla Rum and Snack Bar

Nova Esquerra de l'Eixample · rum bar · 10–30 € (≈$11–34) · Thu–Mon 19:00–1:00, Fri–Sat until 3:00, closed Tue–Wed
Google Maps · Carrer de Vilamarí, 2

According to Google Maps reviews (5.0 from 128): a tiny bar that feels like a Caribbean rum shop. Every cocktail is rum-based, and guests rank them among the most inventive in town. The food is as impressive as the drinks, and there's a list of white wines, natural ones included. The hosts get the most praise: warm, knowledgeable, and the reason many people become regulars. The room is very small, so seats are few.

Pubs and neighbourhood bars

Michael Collins

Sagrada Família · Irish pub · 10–20 € (≈$11–23) · daily 13:00–2:00, Fri–Sat until 2:30
Google Maps · website · Plaça de la Sagrada Família, 4

According to Google Maps reviews (4.2 from 7,600+): a big Irish pub with several rooms and bars right on the square by the Sagrada Família. Reviewers praise the Guinness, the steak and Guinness pie and the usual pub menu, and there's often live Irish music in the evening. Wednesday is quiz night, and big matches are shown in a separate room, which is where Celtic fans gather too. Drinks are reasonably priced and the toilets are clean; it's no discovery, but as a reliable pub by the city's main landmark it does the job.

Hop Town

Sagrada Família · craft beer bar · 10–20 € (≈$11–23) · daily 8:00–2:00, Thu–Sat until 3:00
Google Maps · website · C. de Sicília, 181

According to Google Maps reviews (4.6 from 480+): a small, cosy bar with a good craft beer selection, so there's always something new to try. Sport is on the screens, which makes it loud and fun on big match days; you can also have a light bite and watch the street go by. The bartender Marcello gets the most mentions, and he's why many people come back several times in one trip. Google also lists it as an oyster bar, but reviews talk mostly about the beer.

Chipen

Sant Gervasi · neighbourhood bar · 1–10 € (≈$1–11) · Mon–Sat 8:00–1:00, Sun 11:00–15:00 and 17:00–0:00
Google Maps · Carrer de Santaló, 48

According to Google Maps reviews (4.2 from 330+): a tiny corner bar with four tables inside and a small terrace, a place for a quiet drink with a friend before moving on. It's very cheap and there's a TV; the choice of snacks is limited. Terrace service draws complaints: sometimes the waiter takes a long time to notice you.

One last thing

Barcelona's night starts late: reviewers say La Paloma only fills up after 2 am, so it's easy to start the evening in a bar first. Dogla and Hop Town stay open until 3:00 on Fridays and Saturdays. If you're heading to Luz de Gas, read the ticket terms carefully and don't wear shorts: people get turned away at the door even with a paid ticket.

More on Barcelona: cocktail bars, craft beer, rooftop bars.
