Poblenou, El Born and the blocks around Arc de Triomf are where good specialty coffee is thickest on the ground. These are coffee shops I go to myself: some for meeting friends, some for working on a laptop, some for grabbing a coffee on a walk.

Prices are Google's average spend per person, valid as of 30 September 2026. Rate: 1 € ≈ $1.13.
In short
- For working with a laptop: Abyss Coffee Roasters, Itnig Café and Poblenou Fresh Coffee Roaster (there's always a seat and Wi-Fi), Orval Studio (upstairs).
- The best coffee, but hardly anywhere to sit: Hidden Coffee Roasters.
- Takeaway only: Skye Coffee Co.
- Earliest to open: Poblenou Fresh Coffee Roaster, from 6:00.
- Not for working, but for the mood: Changüí (an Argentinian espresso bar that also serves wine).
Poblenou

Abyss Coffee Roasters
Poblenou · coffee shop & roastery · 1–10 € (≈$1–11) · Mon–Wed 8:00–18:00, Thu–Fri 8:00–19:00, Sat–Sun 9:00–18:00
Google Maps · website · Av. Diagonal, 93
A great spot on Av. Diagonal: really spacious, with really good coffee. I think what sets it apart is the tables in the quiet side street behind it. A good place to meet friends who live in Poblenou. I often drop in after padel at the sports centre nearby. Make sure you try their pastries — they're delicious — and the filter coffee. You can work here with a laptop too. A wonderful place, I recommend it to everyone.
Itnig Café
Poblenou · coffee shop · 1–10 € (≈$1–11) · Mon–Fri 8:00–20:00, Sat–Sun 9:00–19:00
Google Maps · Carrer de Pujades, 100
Where startup people, developers, designers and everyone else hang out. It's hugely popular with people who work in Poblenou, and it's still one of the coolest places around. They make the best sandwiches — nobody's are better. I don't know how they do it, it's a total mystery. The coffee is great too. I think it's sometimes worth standing in the queue, getting a coffee and maybe even staying to work.
Nearby: if Itnig is packed, Poblenou Fresh Coffee Roaster isn't far — it's next on the list.
Poblenou Fresh Coffee Roaster
Poblenou · coffee shop & roastery · 1–10 € (≈$1–11) · Mon–Fri 6:00–14:00, Sat–Sun 8:30–14:00
Google Maps · Carrer de Pere IV, 101
Maybe not the trendiest place, but there's always somewhere to sit: big tables, Wi-Fi and a tasty cold brew they make themselves. It opens at 6 in the morning, earlier than anywhere else on this list.
Skye Coffee Co.
Poblenou · takeaway coffee · 1–10 € (≈$1–11) · Mon–Fri 9:00–13:30, closed Sat–Sun
Google Maps · Carrer d'Àvila, 32
A cool coffee spot. There are a couple of tables outside, but you can't always work there — it's either too hot or too cold. So I'd treat it as a place for coffee to go. All in all a great space, and the guys make good coffee.
The Miners Coffee
Poblenou · coffee shop & bakery · 1–10 € (≈$1–11) · Mon–Fri 8:00–19:00, Sat–Sun 9:00–19:00
Google Maps · website · Rambla del Poblenou, 107
According to Google Maps reviews (4.6 from 900+): a cosy coffee shop on Rambla del Poblenou, on the way to the beach. People praise the smooth, rich coffee, the iced lattes (seasonal ones included) and the matcha, the home-made pastries, the bagels and the chocolate chip cookies — one of the best in Barcelona. The baristas are friendly and speak English, and dogs are welcome. The place is small and the seating is on stools, so it's more somewhere for a coffee than for half a day of work.
El Born and Arc de Triomf

Hidden Coffee Roasters
El Born · coffee shop & roastery · 1–10 € (≈$1–11) · Mon–Fri 8:00–19:00, Sat–Sun 9:00–19:00
Google Maps · website · Carrer dels Canvis Vells, 10
A brilliant coffee shop — I think the best in El Born, between El Born and La Barceloneta. Among other things you can buy drip bags here, which you don't see all that often. Specialty espresso, food, drinks — they've got everything, really. You won't find coffee of this quality anywhere else in the area. The only letdown is the size: a standard coffee comes really small.
Changüí
by Arc de Triomf · espresso bar · 1–10 € (≈$1–11) · Thu–Mon 9:00–15:00, closed Tue–Wed
Google Maps · website · Carrer de Buenaventura Muñoz, 44
A small Argentinian espresso shop that pours wine as well. It's run by really friendly people. I stop by every time I'm walking past.
The Habitat Club
by Arc de Triomf · coffee shop · 1–10 € (≈$1–11) · Mon–Fri 8:00–17:00, Sat–Sun 9:00–18:00
Google Maps · website · Carrer de Nàpols, 31
A new place, and I really like it. Very welcoming staff, a good choice of coffee, plus matcha and other drinks.
Orval Studio
by Arc de Triomf · coffee shop · 1–10 € (≈$1–11) · Mon–Fri 8:30–17:00, Sat–Sun 9:30–17:00
Google Maps · Instagram · Carrer de Buenaventura Muñoz, 31
A very trendy place that stands out with its punk design. Upstairs you can sit down and work; downstairs you can hang out, flick through fashion and design magazines and chat with friends.
One last thing
Many coffee shops here close early: Skye at 13:30, Poblenou Fresh at 14:00, Changüí at 15:00. Skye is also closed at weekends, and Changüí on Tuesday and Wednesday. If you're planning a working day, start the morning at Poblenou Fresh and move to Itnig Café after lunch: it's open until 20:00 on weekdays.
