This is a cheat sheet by dish: what people eat in Da Nang and where to try each one. My list of saved places had almost no local food here, so I picked these from travel guides and reviews and checked each one on Google: all are open. I have no notes of my own yet, so the descriptions come from Google Maps reviews. Mì Quảng 1A, Bún Mắm Vân, Bà Bé and Chè Liên are rated 4.0–4.1, below my usual bar, but they are well-known local places with hundreds or thousands of reviews, and I couldn't find a better verified option for their dishes. Restaurants and markets are in my guide to where to eat in Da Nang.

Prices are Google's average spend per person; individual dish prices come from reviews. Valid as of 11 October 2026. Rate: 100,000 ₫ ≈ $3.90.
In short
- Breakfast like a local: bún chả cá at Bún Chả Cá Bà Lữ (open 24 hours) or mì Quảng at Mì Quảng 1A from 6:00.
- Almost everything under 100,000 ₫ (≈$4): apart from seafood, every dish here is street food.
- A bit of everything: at Bà Bé they bring a couple of each kind of rice cake, and you only pay for what you eat.
- Dinner and dessert on one street: bánh xèo at Bánh Xèo Bà Dưỡng and durian chè at Chè Liên, almost opposite each other on Hoàng Diệu.
- Late-night seafood: Bé Ni 2 by the beach is open around the clock.
Mì Quảng
The signature dish of Quảng Nam province: wide, turmeric-tinted rice noodles with shrimp, pork, a quail egg, peanuts and herbs, and just a little strong broth. It comes with a crispy rice cracker that you crumble into the bowl.
Mì Quảng 1A
Hải Châu · mì Quảng · up to 100,000 ₫ (≈ up to $4) · daily 6:00–21:00
Google Maps · 5 Hải Phòng
According to Google Maps reviews (4.0 from 2,100+): a well-known noodle shop that makes nothing but mì Quảng, near Chợ Cồn market; locals eat here too, and there's an English menu for visitors. Reviewers praise the clean, savoury broth and low prices and suggest the shrimp, pork and egg version. Sceptics find it an ordinary bowl: plain stock, a modest portion and shrimp served in their shells.
Bún chả cá
Rice noodle soup with fish cakes, the most Da Nang breakfast there is. The broth is made with fish and vegetables, light and slightly sweet, and the bowl holds several kinds of fish and crab cakes, sometimes chunks of tuna or mackerel.

Bún Chả Cá Bà Lữ
Thanh Khê · bún chả cá · up to 100,000 ₫ (≈ up to $4) · open 24 hours
Google Maps · 319 Hùng Vương
According to Google Maps reviews (4.3 from 410+): a plain local spot near Chợ Cồn that is almost always full. Reviewers praise the rich broth and the fish cakes and recommend the special bowl with everything in it (fish and crab cakes, tuna and mackerel), with fried dough sticks on the side and shrimp paste and lime to taste. There's bún riêu with crab too, for about 25,000 ₫ (≈$1). No English menu, but reviewers say that's no obstacle.
Bún mắm
Rice vermicelli with pork (boiled or crispy roast), herbs and vegetables, dressed with mắm nêm, a thick fermented anchovy sauce with pineapple and chilli. The smell is pungent, the taste salty and very local.
Bún Mắm Vân
Hải Châu · bún mắm · up to 100,000 ₫ (≈ up to $4) · daily 6:30–22:00
Google Maps · 23/14 Trần Kế Xương, in the alley
According to Google Maps reviews (4.1 from 1,300+): a stall in an alley lined with bún mắm places. Guests say the crispy pork has been made here for decades, and they also recommend bánh ướt, thin steamed rice sheets, and praise the homemade fried shallots. No frills: plastic tables, a strong and salty flavour, and some found the pork overdone.
Bánh xèo
A crispy pancake of rice flour and turmeric with pork, shrimp and bean sprouts. In central Vietnam they're made small, rolled in rice paper with herbs and dipped in a thick peanut sauce.
Bánh Xèo Bà Dưỡng
Hải Châu · bánh xèo · up to 100,000 ₫ (≈ up to $4) · daily 9:30–21:30
Google Maps · 280/23 Hoàng Diệu, at the end of the alley
According to Google Maps reviews (4.3 from 10,700+): the city's most famous bánh xèo, with just four things on the menu, and by common consent the star is the sauce, refilled as often as you like. Besides the pancakes, people recommend nem lụi, minced pork grilled on lemongrass sticks. It's chaotic: noisy, napkins on the floor, you have to flag down staff yourself, and there are no seats at lunchtime. Pricier than bánh xèo elsewhere, but most leave happy.
Bánh bèo, bánh nậm and bánh lọc
Small bites made from rice and tapioca flour that came to Da Nang from nearby Huế: bánh bèo are steamed rice "saucers" topped with dried shrimp and crackling, bánh nậm are flat rice cakes steamed in banana leaf, and bánh lọc are translucent chewy dumplings with shrimp and pork. Everything gets dipped in fish sauce.
Bánh bèo Bà Bé
Hải Châu · bánh bèo and Huế snacks · up to 100,000 ₫ (≈ up to $4) · daily 6:00–18:00
Google Maps · Foody · 100 Hoàng Văn Thụ
According to Google Maps reviews (4.1 from 610+): a street stall with low tables by the road where locals drop in for a quick breakfast. The owner usually brings a little of everything (bánh bèo, bánh nậm, bánh lọc and bánh ram, a fried rice cake with shrimp), explains how to eat it and charges only for what you finish. The menu has photos but no prices. Guests are won over by her warmth.
Seafood (hải sản)
Da Nang is a seaside city, and a seafood dinner near Mỹ Khê beach is a local ritual: you pick fish, prawns, crabs and shellfish live and have them grilled, steamed or done in garlic sauce.
Bé Ni 2
An Hải · seafood · open 24 hours
Google Maps · 228 Võ Nguyên Giáp
According to Google Maps reviews (4.8 from 14,400+): a loud restaurant across from the beach with walls of tanks full of crabs, lobsters, prawns, oysters and clams. Guests praise the freshness, the quick service and staff who peel everything for you; there are set menus for groups and for one. Some find the garlic butter sauce drowns the seafood, lobster is expensive and the floor is very slippery. Come early for dinner.
Chè
Vietnamese dessert in a glass or bowl: beans, jellies, fruit, tapioca, coconut milk and crushed ice. In Da Nang the favourite is chè Thái with durian (chè Thái sầu riêng).
Chè Liên Đà Nẵng
Hải Châu · chè · up to 100,000 ₫ (≈ up to $4) · daily 7:30–23:00
Google Maps · 189 Hoàng Diệu
According to Google Maps reviews (4.1 from 2,100+): the city's best-known spot for durian chè, with a big chunk of real durian in every glass, which durian lovers adore. Service is quick and prices are low. Downsides: many find the dessert thin and too sweet, other kinds of chè (such as chè khúc bạch for 25,000 ₫, ≈$1) unremarkable, there can be a queue and it isn't the cleanest.
One last thing
Noodle soups are morning food here: bún chả cá, mì Quảng and bánh bèo are best at breakfast, and Bà Bé closes at 18:00. In the evening, pair bánh xèo at Bà Dưỡng with chè at Chè Liên, on the same street. And for bánh mì, head to nearby Hội An: see my guide to where to eat in Hội An.
