Best tapas bars in Seville: 11 in Santa Cruz and Triana

· · 8 min read

These are Seville's tapas bars sorted by area: Santa Cruz by the cathedral, the centre between the Alfalfa and San Lorenzo, and Triana across the river. My own list of saved places had almost no tapas bars, so every address here comes from travel guides and local blogs; I checked each one on Google: open, rated 4.3 or higher, over a thousand reviews. I don't have my own notes on them yet — the descriptions are put together from Google Maps reviews. Restaurants, oysters and the bars around the Alameda are in where to eat and drink in Seville.

Prices are Google's average spend per person, valid as of 11 October 2026. Rate: 1 € ≈ $1.12.

In short

  • Cheapest and loudest: Bodega Santa Cruz Las Columnas — tapas from just over 3 € (≈$3.50), eaten standing at the bar.
  • Highest rated: Vinería San Telmo (4.7), a wine bar and restaurant on the edge of Santa Cruz, serving lunch and dinner.
  • No siesta: Bar Alfalfa (9:00–0:00) and La Bartola (12:00–0:00) serve all day, while most kitchens close from 17:00 to 20:00.
  • Sherry: Taberna Manolo Cateca — a long sherry list and a prawn tortilla.
  • Triana: Las Golondrinas for pork loin on bread and baby squid; Blanca Paloma for fish and seafood, closed Sunday and Monday.

Bodega Santa Cruz Las Columnas

Santa Cruz · tapas bar · 10–20 € (≈$11–22) · daily 8:00–0:00, Fri–Sat until 0:30
Google Maps · Facebook · C. Rodrigo Caro, 1

According to Google Maps reviews (4.4 from 16,000+): the neighbourhood's cheap tapas bar — you order at the counter and the plate is in front of you a couple of minutes later. There are hardly any seats, most people stand, and the regulars will happily help you order if you don't speak Spanish. In the morning it does tostadas for breakfast. The one downside: it's always packed.

Taberna Álvaro Peregil - La Goleta

Santa Cruz · tavern · 10–20 € (≈$11–22) · daily 13:00–0:30
Google Maps · website · C. Mateos Gago, 22

According to Google Maps reviews (4.3 from 2,900+): a tiny tavern on Mateos Gago with tables under orange trees and the Giralda in view. People come for the orange wine (vino de naranja — sweet and strong, closer to a liqueur), the tuna and the pork cheeks. It's often full and you wait for a table. Opinions on the staff are split: some love them, others report rudeness and badly cleaned prawns.

Bar restaurante Casa Román

Santa Cruz · tapas bar · 20–30 € (≈$22–34) · daily 12:30–17:00 and 20:00–0:00
Google Maps · website · Pl. Venerables, 1

According to Google Maps reviews (4.4 from 2,800+): an old bar on the small Plaza de los Venerables, with tiles and hams hanging from the ceiling. Reviewers praise the jamón ibérico de bellota, the oxtail, fried dogfish (cazón) and the tomatoes. The tables on the square go fast, so book for the evening. One review tells of the bar being shut without warning despite a confirmed booking.

La Bartola

San Bartolomé · tapas bar · 10–20 € (≈$11–22) · daily 12:00–0:00
Google Maps · C. San José, 15

According to Google Maps reviews (4.5 from 6,500+): a modern tapas bar a couple of minutes from Santa Cruz that mixes the classics with ideas from other cuisines. The star is Iberian pork cheek stew on mashed potato; reviewers also praise the caponata, croquettes, baby squid, lamb with couscous and the homemade desserts. There are vegetarian and vegan dishes, and sangria for under 3 €. A queue forms at dinnertime but moves fast; the second round can be slow.

Vineria San Telmo

Santa Cruz · wine bar and restaurant · 20–30 € (≈$22–34) · Mon–Sat 10:00–17:00 and 20:00–23:30, Sun 10:00–23:30
Google Maps · website · P.º de Catalina de Ribera, 4

According to Google Maps reviews (4.7 from 4,400+): a wine bar by the Jardines de Murillo, on the edge of Santa Cruz, and the highest rated place on this list. The tapas are creative: squid-ink spaghetti with seafood, garlic octopus, crispy oxtail, ceviche, chicken and almond pastilla, cheesecake. The waiters help match wine to the food, though now and then a reviewer got no menu advice at all.

The centre: Alfalfa, Santa Catalina and San Lorenzo

Bar Alfalfa

Alfalfa · tapas bar · 10–20 € (≈$11–22) · daily 9:00–0:00
Google Maps · C. Candilejo, 1

According to Google Maps reviews (4.6 from 8,000+): a small rustic corner bar by the Plaza de la Alfalfa. You order at the counter; reviewers praise the pork cheeks, mushroom croquettes, red pesto bruschetta, tinto de verano and the strong sangria. It's cheap: one review mentions dinner for two adults and a child at 27 €. Tables seat two, so groups wait, and the lasagne and paella are said to be weaker than the rest.

El Rinconcillo

Santa Catalina · oldest tapas bar · 10–30 € (≈$11–34) · daily 13:00–17:30 and 20:00–0:30
Google Maps · website · C. Gerona, 40

According to Google Maps reviews (4.3 from 14,000+): a bar from 1670, said to be the oldest in the city. There are no stools at the bar — you drink and eat standing, and your tab is chalked straight onto the wood. The must-orders are spinach with chickpeas and pork in whisky sauce; the oxtail gets praise too. Pricier than its neighbours, and without a table booking you'll almost certainly wait.

Espacio Eslava

San Lorenzo · tapas bar and restaurant · Tue–Sat 12:30–0:00, Sun 12:30–17:00, closed Mon
Google Maps · website · C. Eslava, 3

According to Google Maps reviews (4.6 from 7,700+): a tapas bar by the Plaza de San Lorenzo with a bar, a dining room and outdoor tables. The signature is honey-glazed ribs; the pâté and octopus get praise too. It's very popular, so reviewers advise booking, and there are gluten-free options. Not everyone likes the service: a couple of reviews complain about it.

Taberna Manolo Cateca

Centro · sherry tavern · 10–20 € (≈$11–22) · per Google Mon–Fri 11:00–16:30, closed Sat–Sun
Google Maps · Facebook · Calle Sta. María de Gracia, 13

According to Google Maps reviews (4.3 from 1,600+): an old tavern people come to for sherry — a long list from dry fino to oloroso, and staff who help you choose. The food is simple: prawn tortilla, vegetable tortilla, fried squid, smoked sardines on toast. At lunchtime it's mostly locals, and prices are low for the centre. Check the hours: reviews describe a queue for the 20:30 evening opening, while Google lists daytime hours only.

Triana

Bar Las Golondrinas - Antillano Campos

Triana · tapas bar · 10–20 € (≈$11–22) · daily 12:00–16:30 and 20:00–0:00, Fri–Sun until 0:30
Google Maps · C. Antillano Campos, 26

According to Google Maps reviews (4.3 from 1,500+): a neighbourhood bar in Triana with tiles at the entrance and a wrought-iron staircase. Downstairs you eat tapas standing at the bar; upstairs is a small dining room for a proper sit-down meal. Everyone recommends the pork loin (punta) on bread with chips and the baby squid; the mushrooms, reviewers say, you can skip.

Blanca Paloma

Triana · tapas bar and restaurant · 20–30 € (≈$22–34) · Tue–Sat 12:30–16:30 and 20:00–0:00, closed Sun–Mon
Google Maps · website · C. San Jacinto, 49

According to Google Maps reviews (4.5 from 5,900+): a bar on Triana's main street with pavement tables, known for fish and seafood — reviewers praise the garlic sole and the little prawn burgers. Free olives come with the cold beer. Downsides: some found the food not very traditional, and one review says the card was charged in dollars at a poor rate without asking — choose euros when you pay.

One last thing

Most Seville tapas bars close their kitchens from about 16:30–17:30 until 20:00. If you get hungry mid-afternoon, go to Bar Alfalfa, La Bartola or Las Columnas, which serve straight through. In the evening the popular counters in Santa Cruz have queues by 21:00, so book Casa Román and El Rinconcillo, and remember that Blanca Paloma in Triana is closed on Sunday and Monday.
