Best coffee in Tbilisi: 6 cafés for coffee and breakfast

· · 5 min read

My list of saved places in Tbilisi had khinkali houses, bars and viewpoints, but not a single café. So this one is put together entirely from travel guides and city blogs — above all Wander-Lush and 34travel — and every place is checked on Google: still open, rated 4.2 or higher. I haven't written my own notes yet, so the descriptions come from Google Maps reviews.

Prices are Google's average spend per person, valid as of 7 October 2026. Rate: 1 ₾ ≈ $0.38.

In short

  • The most praised coffee: Shavi Coffee Roasters in Sololaki — its own roast, batch brew and a tasting flight, but only a handful of seats.
  • Breakfast: Coffee Lab on Kazbegi, one of the city's first specialty cafés, and OKRO with its own bread and cakes.
  • The prettiest: Café Stamba with its huge hall and courtyard, and Café Leila with its painted interior by the Gabriadze clock tower.
  • Coffee with a book: Prospero's Books on Rustaveli, a bookshop with a café and a quiet courtyard.
  • Late in the evening: Café Stamba is open until midnight and Coffee Lab until 23:00; OKRO and Shavi close at 18:00–19:00.

Shavi Coffee Roasters - Garage

Sololaki · specialty coffee and roastery · daily 8:30–19:00
Google Maps · website · Lado Asatiani St, 28

According to Google Maps reviews (4.8 from 438): a branch of the Shavi roasters, whose beans are brewed in many cafés across town, on an old Sololaki street. Reviewers rave about the batch brew, the tasting flight and the cherry pie made with real cherries; the look is deliberately shabby and bohemian, the baristas are friendly and pets are welcome. Space is tight: a couple of chairs inside and a few tables in the courtyard — the main café in Vera is roomier.

Café Leila

Old Tbilisi · vegetarian café · 20–60 ₾ (≈$8–23) · daily 11:00–23:00
Google Maps · Facebook · Ioane Shavteli St, 18

According to Google Maps reviews (4.4 from 1,500+): a vegetarian café next to the clock tower of the Gabriadze theatre, with a painted interior in a Persian spirit. Reviewers love the lobio, the house pasta with fermented garlic, the crispy cauliflower, the minted cheese and the homemade lemonade; in warm weather you sit outside among the old houses. One guest found the bread with the lobio a little chewy. It only opens at 11:00, so think late breakfast or lunch.

Prospero's Books Tbilisi

Rustaveli · bookshop with a café · daily 9:30–20:30
Google Maps · website · Shota Rustaveli Ave, 34

According to Google Maps reviews (4.4 from 1,200+): a bookshop and a café in two neighbouring rooms. It's quiet, good for reading and working, and the courtyard has tables among plants and trees. With your coffee there are cookies, a soup of the day and sandwiches made to order, at decent prices. Some find the choice of sweets thin, and one guest complains how long the shop took to sort out a wrongly applied discount.

Vera and Saburtalo

OKRO Coffee Roastery and Bakery

Vera · roastery and bakery · 10–40 ₾ (≈$4–15) · daily 8:00–18:00
Google Maps · Instagram · Iakob Nikoladze St, 12

According to Google Maps reviews (4.4 from 456): a big, bright café with its own roastery and bakery on a quiet street. Beans are roasted once a week and the bread ferments for about three days; reviewers like the salmon breakfast, the cheesecake and the desserts. A cappuccino costs about 12 ₾ (≈$5), which is on the pricey side, and laptops aren't allowed after 11:00, which not everyone likes. The coffee itself is excellent to some and average to others.

Cafe Stamba

Vera · café-restaurant · 20–70 ₾ (≈$8–27) · daily 8:00–0:00
Google Maps · website · Merab Kostava St, 14

According to Google Maps reviews (4.2 from 3,700+): the café of the Stamba hotel — a huge hall with striking interiors and a courtyard, really a full restaurant with European food and Georgian touches. Reviewers like the cold brew, the iced Americano and the toasts, especially the egg sandwich. The main downside is service: waits of 15–20 minutes for a menu or to order, and one guest found the latte watery. 34travel recommends the Stamba complex too (article).

Coffee Lab | Kazbegi

Saburtalo · specialty coffee and breakfast · 20–30 ₾ (≈$8–12) · daily 9:00–23:00
Google Maps · website · Alexander Kazbegi Ave, 27

According to Google Maps reviews (4.6 from 2,700+): one of Tbilisi's first specialty cafés — open since 2016 and roasting beans that are brewed all over town; from this Kazbegi flagship it has grown to five-plus branches. A good place for breakfast, a meeting or work: reviewers like the cappuccino, the chicken sandwich and the red cabbage slaw. Scrambled eggs are 19 ₾ (≈$7), and one guest found the 6 ₾ mushroom add-on tiny; long-time regulars say the food got worse after the latest menu change.

One last thing

Tbilisi's cafés keep different hours: OKRO and Shavi open early and close by 18:00–19:00, Café Leila only opens at 11:00, while Café Stamba and Coffee Lab run late into the evening. A good morning starts at Shavi in Sololaki, then a walk down into the Old Town.

More on Tbilisi: where to eat, bars, what to see.
