This is a selection from my list of saved places in Lisbon — everything that isn't Portuguese classics: burgers, Peruvian ceviche, an Australian chef, brunch, steak, churrasco, Georgian food and a grill. The descriptions are put together from Google Maps reviews, and I'll add my own notes as I visit.

Chiado, Bica and Santos

Honorato Chiado
Chiado · burgers · 15–20 € (≈$17–23) · Mon–Thu 12:00–15:30 and 19:00–23:00, Fri until 0:00, Sat 12:00–0:00, Sun 12:00–23:00
Google Maps · website · Largo Rafael Bordalo Pinheiro, 12
According to Google Maps reviews (4.2 from 3,200+): a local chain of craft burger places; this branch is three minutes from Baixa-Chiado metro. Reviewers like the Honorato and Il Goloso burgers, the chicken burger and a Caesar salad with crispy chicken. Food comes quickly and the room is big, so it works for groups. Sides cost extra, the sweet potato fries can be overdone, and the paper menu is in Portuguese (the English one is behind a QR code).
Choclo - Ceviche and Pisco Bar
Bica · Peruvian, ceviche and pisco · 15–40 € (≈$17–45) · Mon, Tue, Thu 12:30–16:00 and 18:00–22:00, Fri–Sun 12:30–16:30 and 18:00–22:30, closed Wed
Google Maps · website · Rua da Bica de Duarte Belo, 29
According to Google Maps reviews (4.8 from 1,000+): a small Peruvian place on a quiet Bica lane that many call the best meal of their whole trip. Fresh, inventive ceviche (the tasting trio gets recommended), anticuchero octopus to start, homemade chicha morada. The downsides: pricey for Lisbon, cramped, slow kitchen, and some complaints about the service. Few tables, so book.
Downunder by Justin Jennings
Santos · Australian-Portuguese · from 50 € (≈$57) · Mon–Fri 19:00–23:00, Sat 12:00–15:00 and 19:00–23:00, closed Sun
Google Maps · website · Rua dos Industriais, 21
According to Google Maps reviews (4.7 from 890): an Australian chef cooking with a Portuguese accent: kangaroo tartare, 36-hour pork belly, black Angus, and a six-course menu. Guests almost unanimously call the prices fair for the level, and praise the wine list and the chef doing the rounds of the tables. A few dishes on the set menu (the ceviche, the heavier sides) don't win everyone over.
Fauna & Flora
Santos · brunch · 10–15 € (≈$11–17) · daily 9:00–17:00
Google Maps · website · Rua da Esperança, 33
According to Google Maps reviews (4.5 from 3,300+): a plant-filled, rustic brunch café, the original of several places with a similar name. Beautifully plated toasts, pancakes, pastries and good cappuccino. The downsides: it's nearly always full, service is slow, and requests to change a dish aren't met with much enthusiasm.
Príncipe Real and Campo de Ourique

Flores da Pampa
Príncipe Real · brunch and wine bar · 20–45 € (≈$23–51) · daily 9:00–1:00
Google Maps · Instagram · Praça das Flores, 18
According to Google Maps reviews (4.4 from 880+): brunch by day (the Turkish eggs get praise), a natural wine bar by night, where they sometimes pour you something that isn't on the list yet. A room full of plants with open windows onto a leafy square. Booking is a good idea; there are also complaints about staff rushing orders at peak times.
Raffi’s
Campo de Ourique · bagels and brunch · 10–15 € (≈$11–17) · Mon–Sat 9:00–16:00, closed Sun
Google Maps · website · Rua Saraiva de Carvalho, 120B
According to Google Maps reviews (4.4 from 340): a bagel café near Jardim da Estrela with very generous fillings. Reviewers love the Chelsea bagel with salmon, cream cheese and cucumber and the avocado toast with egg, with an ube cappuccino, fresh lemonade and brownie bites on the side. Friendly staff and tables outside. There aren't many reviews yet, and nearly all are glowing.
Saldanha, Picoas and Arroios
Butchers
Saldanha · steakhouse · 20–40 € (≈$23–45) · Mon–Fri 12:00–15:00 and 19:00–23:00 (Fri until 23:30), Sat 12:30–16:00 and 19:00–23:30, Sun 12:30–16:00 and 19:00–23:00
Google Maps · website · Rua Tomás Ribeiro, 38
According to Google Maps reviews (4.5 from 2,000+): a big, loud steakhouse for a good steak without fuss or overspending. Dry-aged ribeye and entrecôte come with potatoes and salad included, padrón peppers are the starter to get, and the waiters know their wine. Solo diners feel welcome too. Book ahead; overall reviews are mixed, but the recent ones are very good.
Fogo de Chão
Picoas · Brazilian churrascaria · 20–40 € (≈$23–45) · daily 12:00–15:00 and 19:00–23:00
Google Maps · website · Rua Martens Ferrão, 28A
According to Google Maps reviews (4.4 from 4,300+): a Brazilian churrascaria (an international chain): waiters bring meat on skewers and carve it at your table until you flip your card, plus a large salad bar. The picanha and chicken hearts get praise, and weekday set menus are good value. It's popular, so book.
#Treestory
Picoas · Georgian · 15–35 € (≈$17–40) · Mon 19:00–23:00, Tue–Thu 13:00–16:00 and 19:00–23:00, Fri–Sun 13:00–17:00 and 18:30–23:00
Google Maps · website · Rua Luciano Cordeiro, 46A
According to Google Maps reviews (4.6 from 2,000+): a Georgian restaurant with a cosy dining room and a courtyard terrace. Reviewers praise the khachapuri, mushroom soup, the salad and the medovik honey cake, and suggest Borjomi for the table; staff know the menu well and help with the wine. Dogs are welcome. The one recurring complaint: cocktails take a while.
Pils Grill Eatery
Arroios · grill and craft beer · Tue–Sun 12:00–23:30, closed Mon
Google Maps · website · Rua do Conde de Redondo, 70
According to Google Maps reviews (4.7 from 1,400+): a grill restaurant built around smoke and fire, and a rare good option in this part of town. Try the prawn croquettes, beef heart pastrami, smoked pork cheeks and the burger, grilled fish and sausages; for dessert, Basque cheesecake and chocolate cake with olive oil and sea salt. A good range of beer on tap. It can get hot inside.
One last thing
Many Lisbon restaurants close between lunch and dinner, roughly from 15:00–16:00 until 19:00. In that gap, Flores da Pampa and Pils Grill Eatery keep serving. Choclo is small and closed on Wednesdays, so book a day or two ahead.
