This is a selection of Portuguese food in Lisbon: pastel de nata, petisco taverns, seafood and a tiny tasca pouring natural wine. Manteigaria and Tasca Pete come from my list of saved places; I added Pastéis de Belém, Cervejaria Ramiro, O Velho Eurico and Taberna da Rua das Flores on the advice of travel guides. The descriptions are put together from Google Maps reviews, and I'll add my own notes as I visit.

Prices are Google's average spend per person, valid as of 1 October 2026. Rate: 1 € ≈ $1.13.
In short

- Seafood: Cervejaria Ramiro, a loud beer-and-seafood hall since the 1950s, booked weeks ahead.
- Petiscos: O Velho Eurico in Mouraria and Taberna da Rua das Flores in Chiado.
- Best meal of the trip, say reviewers: tiny Tasca Pete in Graça. Book it.
Pastel de nata
Manteigaria
Chiado · pastel de nata · about 1.50 € each (≈$1.70) · daily 8:00–0:00
Google Maps · website · Rua do Loreto, 2
According to Google Maps reviews (4.8 from 10,900+): for many, the best pastel de nata in Lisbon. Crisp flaky pastry, warm custard that's almost runny, and they're baked right behind the counter where you can watch. Have one with a good espresso or cappuccino. There are no tables, just standing room, but the queue moves fast. It's a chain, with branches in other Portuguese cities too.
Pastéis de Belém
Belém · pastry shop · daily 8:00–21:00
Google Maps · website · Rua de Belém, 84–92
According to Google Maps reviews (4.6 from 100,000+): the famous old bakery in Belém. The pastry here is noticeably crisper and firmer than elsewhere, and the tarts come warm, with cinnamon and icing sugar. The rooms feel like a museum, and beyond the tarts there are sandwiches, toasts and meat pies. The downsides: huge tourist crowds, a long takeaway queue (the line for a table moves faster), a slow bill, and for some the fame has long outrun the taste. 34travel recommends it too (article).
Portuguese cooking
Cervejaria Ramiro
Anjos · seafood · from 50 € (≈$57) · Tue–Sat 12:00–0:00, Sun 12:00–23:00, closed Mon
Google Maps · website · Avenida Almirante Reis, 1H
According to Google Maps reviews (4.4 from 20,000+): a loud three-floor seafood and beer hall dating from the 1950s, one of the best-known places in Lisbon. There's hardly any fish; instead it's carabinero and tiger prawns, crab, clams, squid, oysters and garlic prawns with buttered bread, finished, by tradition, with a prego steak sandwich. Service is fast and slick. People book two weeks to a month ahead, though late on a weekday you can sometimes walk in; large groups face a minimum spend.
O Velho Eurico
Mouraria · Portuguese petiscos · 20–40 € (≈$23–45) · Tue–Sat 12:00–15:00 and 19:30–22:30, closed Sun and Mon
Google Maps · Instagram · Largo de São Cristóvão, 3
According to Google Maps reviews (4.4 from 4,300+): a small stone-walled tavern doing Portuguese classics with a modern touch, as petiscos to share. The tuna pica-pau, grilled pork, pastries and rice get praise; the mood is fun, the staff are never pushy and sometimes pour a free shot. Book almost a month ahead; without a booking, come about 45 minutes before opening and put your name on the list at the door. Pairs and solo diners at the bar get in faster.
Taberna da Rua das Flores
Chiado · taberna, petiscos · 20–45 € (≈$23–51) · Mon–Sat 12:00–23:30, Sun 12:00–17:00
Google Maps · website · Rua das Flores, 103
According to Google Maps reviews (4.3 from 3,300+): a narrow traditional room lined with Portuguese produce, with a chalkboard menu based on old recipes for small plates. Reviewers love the corvina ceviche in coconut sauce, the prawns and mushrooms in a creamy egg sauce; wine is poured generously, and staff explain every dish and help with gluten-free options. Cash only, with just pricey Euronet ATMs nearby. You may wait for a table even when some are free, and some feel rushed afterwards.
Graça

Tasca Pete
Graça · small restaurant, natural wine · dishes 11–17 € (≈$12–19) · Tue–Sat 18:00–0:00, closed Sun and Mon
Google Maps · booking · Rua Angelina Vidal, 24A
According to Google Maps reviews (4.5 from 440): a tiny tasca with a local owner, natural wines and a good playlist. The star is a crisp potato terrine with goat's cheese, beetroot and pistachio (people who don't eat goat's cheese rave about it), and the braised beef cheeks with beer sauce get recommended too. Solo diners can sit at the bar; groups should book.
One last thing
Many Lisbon restaurants close between lunch and dinner, roughly from 15:00–16:00 until 19:00; Manteigaria keeps going through that gap. Book Cervejaria Ramiro and O Velho Eurico several weeks ahead, and Tasca Pete a day or two ahead.
