Coffee shops in Lisbon: 5 places for coffee and breakfast

· · 3 min read

Mornings in Lisbon are for coffee and pastries. Fábrica and the two Copenhagen Coffee Labs come from my list of saved places; I added Dramático and Hello, Kristof on the advice of travel guides and blogs. The descriptions are put together from Google Maps reviews, and I'll add my own notes as I visit.

Prices are Google's average spend per person, valid as of 1 October 2026. Rate: 1 € ≈ $1.13.

In short

  • Best coffee: Dramático, but only until 14:00 and no laptops.
  • Beans to take home: Fábrica Coffee Roasters in Baixa roasts its own.
  • Breakfast and brunch: Hello, Kristof in São Bento.
  • Cardamom buns: two Copenhagen Coffee Labs, in São Bento and in quieter Alcântara, both open from 7:30.

Coffee and breakfast

Dramático

Príncipe Real · specialty coffee · 5–10 € (≈$6–11) · Mon–Fri 8:30–14:00, Sat 9:00–14:00, closed Sun
Google Maps · Rua da Alegria, 41E

According to Google Maps reviews (4.9 from 500+): a tiny, bright coffee shop on a quiet lane, with three or four tables and an owner-barista who loves talking coffee and tips on the city. Many call it the best coffee in Lisbon: the americano, flat white and an iced latte where you can still taste the espresso all get praise, with a croissant on the side. There's no room to work on a laptop, and one guest found the blend a bit too acidic.

Fábrica Coffee Roasters

Baixa · coffee roastery · daily 8:00–17:00
Google Maps · website · Rua das Portas de Santo Antão, 136

According to Google Maps reviews (4.4 from 2,700+): a café that roasts its own beans, which you can buy to take home. Reviewers like the iced latte, the affogato and the coffee lemonade, and you can order a V60 from a choice of beans; banana bread and desserts to go with it. Lots of seating and a relaxed feel. Not everyone likes the espresso: a guest from Milan found it undrinkable.

Hello, Kristof

São Bento · coffee and breakfast · 5–20 € (≈$6–23) · daily 8:45–15:45
Google Maps · website · Rua do Poço dos Negros, 103

According to Google Maps reviews (4.5 from 1,500+): a small café for breakfast and brunch, with good music and friendly staff; the matcha, filter coffee and big breakfasts get praise. Laptops aren't allowed, which regulars see as a plus. The milk drinks have critics: some find them too milky.

Copenhagen Coffee Lab & Bakery

São Bento · coffee and bakery · 5–10 € (≈$6–11) · daily 7:30–18:00
Google Maps · website · Rua Nova da Piedade, 10

According to Google Maps reviews (4.2 from 1,200+): a branch of the Danish chain with good batch filter and espresso, iced matcha, chai, fresh bread, cardamom buns and avocado toast with scrambled eggs. It opens earlier than most cafés around, and dogs are welcome. There can be a queue at weekends, and there's usually just one vegan pastry.

Copenhagen Coffee Lab - Alcântara

Alcântara · coffee and bakery · 10–15 € (≈$11–17) · daily 7:30–17:00
Google Maps · website · Rua Prior do Crato, 1A

According to Google Maps reviews (4.3 from 530): the same Copenhagen Coffee Lab, but calmer, like a neighbourhood café. Reviewers like the latte, the cardamom pastries and cinnamon buns, focaccia, seeded loaves and fresh juices; there are high-protein breakfasts and vegan options. Fine for a laptop session or with a dog. A handy stop on the way to LX Factory.

One last thing

Lisbon's specialty coffee shops close early: Dramático at 14:00 and all day on Sundays, Hello, Kristof around 16:00, Fábrica at 17:00. So have your coffee in the morning; if you wake up late, the Copenhagen Coffee Labs have you covered.

More on Lisbon: bars.
