Cafés and bars in Cappadocia: 6 spots with views and coffee

· · 4 min read

After a sunrise full of balloons, Cappadocia calls for coffee and breakfast, and in the evening for a drink with a view of the rocks. My saved list had almost no cafés or bars, so I added all six on the advice of travel guides and blogs and checked them on Google: still open, rated 4.2 or higher, with more than a hundred reviews. Descriptions are put together from Google Maps reviews; I have no notes of my own yet.

Prices are Google's average spend per person; valid as of 7 October 2026. Rate: 100 ₺ ≈ $2.

In short

  • Coffee after sunrise: King's Coffee Shop in Göreme opens at 6:00, just as the balloons land.
  • Cheap home cooking: Cafe Şafak in Göreme, gözleme, künefe and cheese the owner makes herself.
  • Breakfast facing the castle: Karlık Teras below Uçhisar Kalesi.
  • An evening in Göreme: The Hangout Gastro Pub, beer, cocktails and hookah on the upper terrace.
  • Ortahisar: coffee with a castle view at Lavanta, and Park Cafe Ali'nin Yeri in the evening.

Göreme

King's Coffee Shop

Göreme · coffee shop · 200–1,000 ₺ (≈$4–20) · daily 6:00–19:00
Google Maps · website · İçeridere Sk. 3/B

According to Google Maps reviews (4.8 from 4,000+): a cosy café run by a friendly owner with a dog. The star is the pistachio latte, made with real pistachio cream rather than syrup, and the pistachio baklava; syrups are made in-house, and there's a vegan cheesecake. A good place to sit with a notebook after sunrise. Downside: pricey for Göreme, though most say it's worth it.

Cafe Şafak

Göreme · home-style café, breakfast · 400–600 ₺ (≈$8–12) · daily 7:00–23:00
Google Maps · website · İçeridere Sk. 27

According to Google Maps reviews (4.3 from 700+): a calm family café a step away from the tourist centre, where the owner makes a lot herself, cheese included. Reviewers praise the gözleme with cheese and egg or sausage, Turkish coffee, clay-pot kebab and künefe; for breakfast there's an omelette, and they'll even make çılbır off the menu. Downside: the food is simple; this isn't a restaurant with a view.

The Hangout Gastro Pub

Göreme · pub with a terrace · 200–1,200 ₺ (≈$4–24) · daily 11:30–1:00, Sat to 1:30
Google Maps · Bilal Eroğlu Cd. 19

According to Google Maps reviews (4.6 from 400+): a family-run pub in central Göreme with an upper terrace over the main street. Cold beer with a free plate of warm nibbles, cocktails, rakı, hookah and good music; football on screen, and a heater brought out on cold nights. Downside: cocktails are pricey, as everywhere in Göreme.

Uçhisar

Karlık Teras cafe

Uçhisar · terrace café, breakfast · 600–800 ₺ (≈$12–16) · daily 8:00–23:00
Google Maps · Karlık Sk. 12

According to Google Maps reviews (4.7 from 680+): a family café with a terrace looking at Uçhisar Kalesi and the valley; take the steps down behind the Uchisar letters by the castle. Gözleme is made in front of you, and reviewers praise the soup of the day, ice cream and tea; one calls it the best breakfast in Uçhisar. Prices are fair for such a touristy spot.

Ortahisar

Lavanta Panorama Cafe Ortahisar

Ortahisar · café with a panoramic terrace · 200–800 ₺ (≈$4–16) · daily 8:30–19:00
Google Maps · Ortahisar Köyü İç Yolu 5

According to Google Maps reviews (4.2 from 490+): a café with a lavender-lined terrace overlooking Ortahisar Kalesi, the cave houses below and mountains in the distance. Reviewers praise the pistachio coffee, fresh baklava and ice cream; there are photo spots and pottery for sale. The reviews are nearly all about the view and the coffee: it's a stop for coffee with a panorama, not for lunch.

Park Cafe Ali'nin Yeri

Ortahisar · café-bar with a view · 400–1,200 ₺ (≈$8–24) · daily 8:00–23:30
Google Maps · Tepebaşı Meydanı 23

According to Google Maps reviews (4.9 from 520+): a café-bar on Ortahisar's square with a lovely view and a very welcoming owner, Ali. Reviewers praise the beer in frozen glasses, the hookah, the künefe and the music (guests even get to play their own), and evenings easily end with dancing alongside the next table. The reviews are almost all raves; it's more an evening place than a breakfast one.

One last thing

King's in Göreme opens at six, just in time for the balloon landings, but closes at seven in the evening. Lavanta in Ortahisar also shuts at seven, which leaves Park Cafe Ali'nin Yeri for the evening there.
