Shopping in Istanbul: 11 brands, bookshops and malls

· · 6 min read

These are shops from my saved lists on Google Maps: a couple of Turkish brands and streetwear, bookshops, a film shop and the malls I've been to or plan to visit. Where I have a note of my own, it comes first; the rest is put together from Google Maps reviews. Vintage and second-hand have their own article: vintage shops in Istanbul.

Google has no prices for shops, so the amounts in the text come from reviews. Data valid as of 30 September 2026. Rate: 1 ₺ ≈ $0.020.

In short

  • Sneakers and streetwear: WUNDER and SNAB Urban Store in Moda, the Turkish brand Les Benjamins in Nişantaşı.
  • A bookshop worth it for the building alone: Minoa Pera. For Russian books and coffee: Полторы Комнаты ("A Room and a Half") in Çukurcuma.
  • Film: Pamuk Ticaret in Eminönü, developing and scanning in a day or two.
  • Malls: Kanyon and ÖzdilekPark sit next to each other on Büyükdere Cd. in Levent; for a Bosphorus view, Galataport in Karaköy.
  • Cheapest: the Olivium outlet mall, with sales on Tuesdays.

Turkish brands and streetwear

SNAB URBAN STORE

Moda · streetwear · daily 11:00–21:00
Google Maps · Moda Cd. No:110c

According to Google Maps reviews (4.9 from 490): a tidy streetwear shop with a stylish selection (Peso polos get a mention) and reasonable prices. Staff help with sizes and speak English. One buyer was handed a cardigan from the stockroom that turned out to have a hole, so check before you pay.

WUNDER

Moda · sneakers & streetwear · Mon–Sat 11:00–20:00, Sun 12:00–20:00
Google Maps · website · Hünkar Sok. 4a

According to Google Maps reviews (4.3 from 300+): possibly the best shop in Istanbul for sneakerheads, with rare models and exclusive Nike, Jordan, Adidas, Vans and Reebok releases at decent prices, and staff who know their stuff. The complaints are about online orders and unanswered Instagram messages, so go in person.

Les Benjamins Nişantaşı

Nişantaşı · Turkish fashion brand · daily 10:00–21:00
Google Maps · website · Akkavak Sok. No:16

According to Google Maps reviews (4.1 from 200+): a Turkish store with stylish, well-made clothes, staff who help you choose without rushing you, and a resident ginger cat. It isn't always like that: one shopper complained of being followed around as if she might steal something.

Bookshops and film

Minoa Pera

Pera · bookshop & café · Sun–Thu 8:00–23:00, Fri–Sat 8:00–0:00
Google Maps · website · Meşrutiyet Cd. No:99

A bloody brilliant bookshop with a café.

According to Google Maps reviews (4.4 from 2,700+): two floors joined by a beautiful staircase, and a café with good breakfasts and pastries. Plenty of people come just for photos, and the English section is small.

Полторы Комнаты: книжный магазин и кафе

Çukurcuma · Russian bookshop & café · daily 11:00–20:00
Google Maps · Çukur Cuma Cd. 5a

A Russian bookshop and café (the name means "A Room and a Half").

According to Google Maps reviews (4.8 from 149): a small but good selection of history, non-fiction, classics, contemporary fiction and children's books, plus filter coffee and tea. The owner gives recommendations; there are no price tags, so you'll have to ask.

Pamuk Ticaret

Eminönü · cameras & film · Mon–Fri 9:00–18:30, Sat 9:00–18:00, closed Sun
Google Maps · website · Muhzirbaşı Sk. No:1, Atabay İş Hanı, 1st floor

A good place to buy and develop film, I hear. I haven't been myself yet; it's on my "want to go" list.

According to Google Maps reviews (4.9 from 82): cameras, lenses and film, with developing and scanning in one or two days; black-and-white work gets special praise. The shop is upstairs and the sign is easy to miss, and the owner doesn't speak English, so a translation app helps.

Malls and outlets

Galataport İstanbul

Karaköy · waterfront mall
Google Maps · website · Meclis-i Mebusan Cd. No:8

A nice little mall with restaurants and an amazing waterfront.

According to Google Maps reviews (4.6 from 33,000+): an open-air shopping quarter and cruise terminal along the Bosphorus, with a wide promenade that's at its best at sunset. Entry is free, but you go through a metal detector.

Kanyon Shopping Mall

Levent · shopping mall · daily 10:00–22:00
Google Maps · website · Büyükdere Cd. No:185

A good mall.

According to Google Maps reviews (4.3 from 20,000+): open-air architecture with fountains and trees, straight out of the metro, and the first three hours of parking free. Some find the shops few and expensive.

ÖzdilekPark Istanbul Shopping Mall

Levent · shopping mall · daily 10:00–22:00
Google Maps · website · Büyükdere Cd. No:181

One more mall, right next door to Kanyon.

According to Google Maps reviews (4.3 from 26,000+): Turkish and international brands, a big Carrefour, a cinema and a kids' area, and usually not too crowded. A bit pricey, and easy to get lost in.

Akasya Mall

Acıbadem · shopping mall · daily 10:00–22:00
Google Maps · website · Derin Sok. No:8

A nice little mall.

According to Google Maps reviews (4.3 from 40,000+): one of the biggest malls on the Asian side, with almost every brand, the M4 metro nearby and a VAT refund (tax-free) office. It gets very crowded and loud, so come when it opens at 10:00.

Olivium Outlet Center

Zeytinburnu · outlet mall · daily 10:00–22:00
Google Maps · website · Prof. Muammer Aksoy Cad. No:30

According to Google Maps reviews (4.0 from 13,000+): outlets of Mavi, Levi's, Nike, Adidas and others, with the Nike Clearance store rated the best. Tuesday is sale day, when shops put discounted stock out in the aisles. Bus 93T runs from Taksim. Some visitors found the discounts small and the trip not worth it.

One last thing

Pamuk Ticaret is closed on Sundays and open until 18:30 on weekdays, so drop your film off early in the trip to have time to collect the scans. The malls are open every day from 10:00 to 22:00; get to Akasya at opening time, before the crowds.
