Bangkok night markets and shopping: 10 places

· · 7 min read

Bangkok is at its best in the evening, once the heat breaks and the night markets open. These are the markets and shopping spots from my saved list: night markets with vintage and street food, a floating market, huge malls, second-hand clothes for pennies, a vintage shop near Khaosan, a neighbourhood market and art spaces. For now every description is put together from Google Maps reviews; I'll add my own notes after the trip.

Prices are Google's average spend per person; prices of single dishes and tickets come from reviews. Valid as of 7 October 2026. Rate: 1 ฿ ≈ $0.030.

In short

  • The big night market: Train Night Market Srinagarindra, with vintage, food and live music, but only Thursday to Sunday. Jodd Fairs is open every night.
  • A floating market without the tour buses: Khlong Lad Mayom, weekends only.
  • Vintage for pennies: Pattavikorn Market, clothes from 5 ฿, if you're ready to dig.
  • A local market with no tourists: Phra Khanong Market near Ekkamai, with a Burmese section inside.
  • Malls: MBK Center with over 2,000 shops, and Terminal 21, where every floor is a world city and food court dishes start at 25 ฿ (≈$0.75).
  • Art and local brands: ChangChui Creative Park on the Thonburi side and Warehouse 30 on Charoen Krung.

Train Night Market Srinagarindra

Srinagarindra · night market · Thu–Sun 17:00–1:00, closed Mon–Wed
Google Maps · Facebook · Thanon Srinagarindra, behind Seacon Square

According to Google Maps reviews (4.4 from 18,300+): one of Bangkok's biggest and best-known night markets, with rows of vintage and retro stuff, bars, a live music stage and endless street food, from grills and seafood to odd desserts. Reviewers suggest coming after 19:00, when every stall is set up. The catch is distance: by car you can sit in traffic for ages, so it's easier to take the MRT Yellow Line to Suan Luang Rama IX and walk about ten minutes. The vintage is mostly American.

Jodd Fairs Ratchada

Rama 9 · night market · daily 17:00–1:00
Google Maps · Facebook · Thanon Ratchadaphisek, 129

According to Google Maps reviews (4.2 from 16,900+): a roomy, clean night market in town, split into zones for food, clothes, accessories and vintage decor. People come to try grilled crocodile, pork ribs and durian. Downsides: pricier than a local neighbourhood market and full of tourists, stuffy in the middle rows, and some find the food average and the trip not worth it.

ChangChui Creative Park

Bang Phlat · creative park & night market · daily 11:00–23:00
Google Maps · website · Sirindhorn Rd, 460/8

According to Google Maps reviews (4.3 from 9,600+): an art space on the Thonburi side with striking architecture made from recycled materials, small shops selling vintage clothes, T-shirts and trinkets, cafés and workshops. It has aged a bit but kept its charm. The main warning in the reviews: the park itself is open every day, but the night market runs only Tuesday to Sunday from 16:00, so on a Monday or during the day it's nearly empty.

Khlong Lad Mayom Floating Market

Taling Chan · floating market · Sat–Sun 8:00–17:00
Google Maps · Facebook · Thanon Bang Ramat, 30/1

According to Google Maps reviews (4.3 from 11,700+): a canal-side floating market not far from the centre, visited mostly by Thai families rather than tourists. Food boats, fruit and vegetables, cheap cooked food: a coconut is about 20 ฿ (≈$0.60). An hour-long boat ride along the canals past wooden houses costs about 100 ฿ (≈$3) per person. Bring cash. A few call the food so-so, but nearly everyone praises the prices and the atmosphere.

Phra Khanong Market

Phra Khanong · neighbourhood market · Mon–Sat 10:30–21:00, closed Sun
Google Maps · by BTS Phra Khanong, Sukhumvit

According to Google Maps reviews (4.1 from 820+): a big local market near Ekkamai with hardly any tourists: fruit, vegetables, seafood, flowers for offerings, clothes and household odds and ends, even a 140 ฿ (≈$4) haircut. Inside there's a Burmese section with dried goods and Burmese food carts. Cheaper than Thonglor; some find it too chaotic.

Malls, vintage and art spaces

MBK Center

Siam · shopping mall · daily 10:00–22:00
Google Maps · website · Phaya Thai Rd, 444

According to Google Maps reviews (4.5 from 64,800+): a huge mall with over 2,000 shops on seven or eight floors: clothes, electronics, phone accessories, cosmetics, souvenirs. Many floors feel like an indoor market, and unlike most malls, haggling is normal here. The Thai food court on the 6th floor gets praise. The downside: some say MBK has turned touristy, with prices for foreigners heavily marked up.

Terminal 21 Asok

Asok · shopping mall · daily 10:00–22:00
Google Maps · website · Soi Sukhumvit 19, 88

According to Google Maps reviews (4.6 from 21,300+): an airport-themed mall where each floor is styled after a world city (Tokyo, London, Paris, Istanbul, San Francisco), right down to the toilets. The reason to come even if you don't shop is the Pier 21 food court, one of the cheapest in Bangkok: Thai dishes from 25 ฿ (≈$0.75), and the crispy oyster omelette gets special praise. The downside is narrow walkways that get cramped at peak times.

Pattavikorn Market New Project

Bueng Kum · second-hand market · daily 7:00–21:00
Google Maps · Facebook · Thanon Nawamin

According to Google Maps reviews (4.3 from 5,700+): a huge covered market of second-hand clothes, shoes and accessories, with mountains of stuff to dig through. Prices are absurdly low: used items from 5 ฿, jeans around 20 ฿, T-shirts 30–60 ฿, jackets from 300 ฿ (≈$9), and some stalls hand you a stool and a basket. There's a food court and 5 ฿ toilets. Downsides: it's far from the centre (reviewers take bus 71 for 20–25 ฿), there's no air-con, and the new branded stuff is often fake. Go early in the morning or in the evening; one tip is to come on a Saturday.

DUM DUM Vintage

Banglamphu · vintage shop · daily 13:00–21:00
Google Maps · Instagram · 90/17 Soi Rambuttri, upstairs from the O’Boy barbershop

A vintage shop upstairs from a barbershop on Soi Rambuttri, a couple of minutes from Khaosan Road. Google Maps reviews (4.2 from 410+) don't say much about it: the reviews Google shows actually describe a different place, The Camp vintage market next to Chatuchak. Check the shop's Instagram before you go.

Warehouse 30

Charoen Krung · art space · daily 9:00–18:00
Google Maps · website · Charoen Krung 30, 48

According to Google Maps reviews (4.1 from 1,600+): old warehouses turned into a creative quarter with galleries, design and vintage shops, cafés and local brands. It's calm and not commercial at all, a good place to sit out the heat with a coffee; the roastery café attached to the souvenir shop gets praise. You can come by boat from ICONSIAM for 5–10 ฿. The downside: the excellent Carnival sneaker store has moved out, and there are fewer interesting shops left.

One last thing

The markets keep their own days: Train Night Market runs Thursday to Sunday and Khlong Lad Mayom only at weekends, so save the weekend for markets and the weekdays for malls. And allow time to get there: Srinagarindra, Bueng Kum and Taling Chan are far from the centre and evening traffic is serious, so take the train wherever you can.

More on Bangkok: what to see, where to eat and drink, coffee shops.
