Where to go out in Hội An: 6 bars and restaurants

· · 5 min read

Evening is the best time of day in Hội An: the heat lets up, lanterns come on over the Thu Bồn River, and you want a drink somewhere above the crowds. My saved list has Hội An as a single pin with no addresses, so all six places here are ones recommended by travel guides (above all Grantourismo's guide to the bars) and by travellers themselves; I checked each one on Google: still open, rated 4.3 or higher, more than a hundred reviews. I have no notes of my own on them; the descriptions are put together from Google Maps reviews.

Prices are Google's average spend per person, valid as of 7 October 2026. Rate: 100,000 ₫ ≈ $3.85.

In short

  • Sunset with a cocktail: the Market Bar terrace above the cloth market, happy hour 16:00–18:00.
  • Wine and cheese: The Hill Station, in an old colonial house a minute from the Old Town.
  • On the beach: Soul Kitchen at An Bàng, with free loungers when you order and DJs at weekends.
  • Dinner with a river view: Mango Mango's balcony on An Hội; ask for a riverside table when you book.
  • An early dinner: Nữ Eatery by Chùa Cầu closes at 21:00 and is shut on Mondays.

Bars

Market Bar - Market Terrace

Old Town · terrace bar · 100,000–500,000 ₫ (≈$4–19) · daily 16:00–23:00
Google Maps · Hội An Cloth Market, Bạch Đằng / 02 Hoàng Diệu

According to Google Maps reviews (4.7 from 1,000+): a terrace bar above the entrance to the cloth market, looking over the market square and the river, an escape from the bustle below. Reviewers praise the gin and tonics and several craft gins, the cocktails, beer and snacks such as calamari and prawns. Happy hour runs 16:00–18:00, just in time for sunset. It gets crowded in the evening.

The Hill Station Deli & Boutique

Hội An · wine, craft beer, deli · 100,000–600,000 ₫ (≈$4–23) · daily 7:00–22:00
Google Maps · website · 321 Nguyễn Duy Hiệu

According to Google Maps reviews (4.7 from 810+): a wine bar and deli in a handsome colonial house a minute's walk from the Old Town, over two floors with an open, breezy upstairs, no loud music and no touts. Wine, craft beer, cheese and charcuterie boards and sharing plates (the lamb shank and Thai-style chicken get mentions). In the morning it works as a café. The crowd is on the older side, expats and tourists, and the street has a few more wine bars and speakeasies.

Soul Kitchen

An Bàng · beach bar and restaurant · 200,000–300,000 ₫ (≈$8–12) · daily 7:00–23:00
Google Maps · website · Lô 6A, An Bàng beach

According to Google Maps reviews (4.3 from 2,100+): a restaurant and bar right on An Bàng beach, with free loungers when you order, a lawn in the middle, a good wine list and a mix of Vietnamese and European food. On Saturday nights DJs play vinyl and people dance. At lunchtime, especially at weekends and holidays, it's full, so book the best seats by the sea.

Dinner

Mango Mango

An Hội · fusion restaurant by the river · 300,000–900,000 ₫ (≈$12–35) · daily 8:00–23:00
Google Maps · website · 45 Nguyễn Phúc Chu

According to Google Maps reviews (4.3 from 1,200+): a restaurant with a balcony right over the river on An Hội, where you watch the lantern boats in the evening and catch the breeze by day. Asian fusion: reviewers praise the mango ceviche on crackers, the calamari, the papaya salad with prawns and the red snapper; people often come here to celebrate. Pricier than the town average. Ask for a river-view table when you book, or you may end up on the back terrace over the night market (quieter, though).

Mango Rooms

Hội An · fusion restaurant · daily 8:00–23:00
Google Maps · website · 37 Đ. Phan Bội Châu

According to Google Maps reviews (4.6 from 840+): Chef Duc's long-running restaurant, sister to Mango Mango, which moved a few years ago from the riverfront to a new spot just outside the Old Town. Beautifully plated Asian fusion with fresh mango, avocado, citrus and herbs: the prawn tempura and the duck with lotus seeds get the praise, and so do the cocktails. Attentive, English-speaking staff, a romantic mood in the evening and fair prices for the level.

Nữ Eatery

Old Town · modern Vietnamese · 100,000–200,000 ₫ (≈$4–8) · Tue–Sun 12:00–21:00, closed Mon
Google Maps · Facebook · 10A Nguyễn Thị Minh Khai

According to Google Maps reviews (4.6 from 2,500+): a small family restaurant in an alley by Chùa Cầu that many call the best food of their trip. Reviewers praise the tofu and pork bao, the noodles, the pomelo and pineapple salad, the tacos and the cinnamon rolls; plenty of vegetarian dishes. Modest prices for the quality. It closes at 21:00 and is shut on Mondays, so it's an early dinner, not a late night.

One last thing

Start with sunset on the Market Bar terrace while happy hour is on, then cross the bridge to An Hội for the lantern boats and dinner. For dinner with a river view, book ahead: the riverfront is packed in the evening.
