Canggu, Seminyak and Kuta are Bali's south, where people live and go out: warungs with local food, coffee shops, beach clubs, reggae bars and vintage stores. These are the places from my saved list, down to a thrift store in Denpasar, plus breakfast at Crate Cafe and drinks at Old Man's, added on the advice of travel guides (mainly 34travel). I haven't added my own notes yet, so the descriptions are put together from Google Maps reviews.

Prices are Google's average spend per person; entrance fees are as reported by visitors. Valid as of 1 October 2026. Rate: 100,000 IDR ≈ $5.60.

- Breakfast in the open air: Nyom Nyom Coffee in Berawa, with a huge menu and a vegan version of almost every dish; at Crate Cafe in Pererenan one plate can feed two.

Canggu
Warung Sika
Canggu, Tanah Barak · Indonesian warung · daily 9:00–21:00
Google Maps · Instagram · Jl. Tanah Barak, 45
According to Google Maps reviews (4.6 from 2,400+): a nasi campur warung. You walk up to the glass counter, point at what you want and get your plate straight away. There are more than 30 mains and vegetable dishes, lots of vegetarian ones and rice in three colours; reviewers single out the chicken sambal matah, satay and corn fritters. A full plate comes to about 50,000 IDR (≈$3). The downsides: a queue and some chaos at the counter, and a few people think it's pricey for a warung. The backyard behind the kitchen is calmer.
Warung Bu Mi
Canggu, Batu Bolong · Indonesian warung · 25,000–50,000 IDR (≈$1.50–3) · daily 8:00–22:00, Thu from 9:00
Google Maps · website · Jl. Pantai Batu Bolong, 52
According to Google Maps reviews (4.2 from 1,600+): the original warung on Batu Bolong, and locals recommend it too. Home-style Indonesian food with a big nasi campur spread (especially the vegetables), house sambal and bakso with tender beef balls; a full meal with a drink costs under 50,000 IDR. Keep in mind that the food sits in the window and is served at room temperature, a lot of it is quite spicy, and the staff aren't always friendly. It's right by a busy road.
Mie and More
Canggu, Batu Bolong · noodle shop · 50,000–75,000 IDR (≈$3–4) · daily 10:00–0:00
Google Maps · Instagram · Jl. Pantai Batu Bolong, 26
According to Google Maps reviews (4.8 from 260+): a small noodle shop run by its owner, who gets a mention in almost every other review. Sichuan-style noodles with a springy bite, a choice of chicken, pork, beef or tofu, fried dumplings and a chili oil people rave about. There are unusual things too, like cheese and hazelnut noodles. Good portions and low prices, and they'll serve the spice on the side if you ask.
Nyom Nyom Coffee
Canggu, Berawa · café & breakfast · 75,000–100,000 IDR (≈$4–5.50) · daily 7:00–22:00
Google Maps · website · Jl. Pantai Berawa, 37B
According to Google Maps reviews (4.5 from 1,700+): an open-air second-floor café with a breeze and a huge menu, and almost every dish comes in a vegan or vegetarian version. People like the croissant breakfast sandwich, the French toast and the banana caramel latte, the big portions, the fast service and the fair prices. The downsides: it's noisy, there are a lot of smokers, and some find the food good but nothing special.
Crate Cafe
Pererenan · café & breakfast · 75,000–150,000 IDR (≈$4–8.50) · daily 6:00–21:00
Google Maps · website · Jl. Sempol, 8
According to Google Maps reviews (4.2 from 5,300+): a cult breakfast spot that has moved from Canggu to neighbouring Pererenan, into a two-storey building with outdoor tables facing a small rice field. Portions are huge and many plates are easily shared; the Frenchie with poached eggs, bacon and croissant, the smoothie bowls and the salads get the most praise, at about 80,000 IDR a dish. The downsides: reviewers find the sourdough underbaked, parking is for scooters only, and the parking attendant can be rude. 34travel recommends it too (guide), though their guide still has the old Canggu address.
Old Man's
Canggu, Batu Bolong · beach bar · daily 12:00–1:00, Wed–Sat until 2:00
Google Maps · website · Jl. Pantai Batu Bolong, 117X
According to Google Maps reviews (4.4 from 6,500+): a big beer garden by Batu Bolong beach. By day and at sunset people have happy-hour cocktails and watch the surfers; at night the DJs come on and everyone dances. Entry is free, there's room to sit even when it's packed, and Wednesday is beer pong night. The downsides: a building on the beach partly blocks the sunset, the dance floor gets very hot, it's hard to catch a server at peak time, and the food (wings, tacos, fries) is fine but no more. 34travel recommends it too (guide).
GrandKids
Canggu, Batu Bolong · vintage store · Tue–Sun 11:00–19:00, closed Mon
Google Maps · Instagram · Jl. Pantai Batu Bolong
According to Google Maps reviews (4.9 from 120+): a vintage store with a very thoughtful selection of Y2K, streetwear and rare pieces that don't feel picked over. The quality is good, nobody pushes you and the staff are friendly. Many say they came in just to look and left with a whole outfit; for some it's their favourite vintage shop in Canggu.
The Conscious Society
Canggu · designer vintage · daily 10:00–18:00
Google Maps · Instagram · Jl. Kayu Tulang, Gang Remanso 1A
According to Google Maps reviews (4.9 from 530+): a neat store of curated vintage with rare designer pieces, plus candles and scents. Shoppers like the selection and the friendly staff. Prices are high for second-hand, though: some leave empty-handed, and one reviewer doubts the expensive bags are genuine, so check items yourself.
Seminyak, Kuta and Denpasar

Potato Head Beach Club
Seminyak, Petitenget · beach club · daily 10:00–0:00, Fri–Sat until 2:00
Google Maps · website · Jl. Petitenget, 51B
According to Google Maps reviews (4.6 from 24,600+): the island's best-known beach club, with striking architecture, lots of art, an infinity pool right by the ocean and the sunset everyone comes for. The mood is more laid-back than party: good music and attentive staff. Everything is taken by sunset, so book; a sunset daybed reportedly costs about 1,000,000 IDR (≈$56) prepaid. The food is mostly Western sharing plates and not cheap; the pizzas get lukewarm reviews.
Apache Reggae Bar
Kuta, Jl. Legian · reggae bar · 25,000–100,000 IDR (≈$1.50–5.50) · daily 20:00–3:00 according to Google
Google Maps · Jl. Legian, 146
According to Google Maps reviews (4.3 from 600): an old reggae bar with a big dance floor and live bands, where people keep coming back for decades. Cheap Bintang buckets (buy five, get six), arak in the cocktails, loud sound, no food. Come later, as it's empty early in the evening. Note that reviewers say it's closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, whatever Google says, and on event nights there may be an entrance fee of about 25,000 IDR.
STRIPESME THRIFT STORE
Kuta · thrift store · daily 8:00–0:00
Google Maps · Instagram · Jl. Setia Budi, 16
According to Google Maps reviews (4.7 from 490): a clean, well-organised thrift store with brand-name sweatshirts, sneakers, rare shoes and a strong accessories section, and a coffee shop next door. The staff are very friendly. The downsides: one reviewer found it mostly menswear, prices are a bit higher than at other thrift shops in Kuta and Denpasar, and some of the shoes may not be genuine.
OLDMANSTUFF Thrift & Vintage Store
Denpasar, Padangsambian Klod · vintage & thrift · daily 10:00–22:00
Google Maps · Instagram · Jl. Gunung Lumut, 47
According to Google Maps reviews (4.9 from 110+): a vintage store where everything is hand-picked: jackets, trousers, T-shirts, caps. Visitors praise the cool design, the music, the friendly owner and prices well below other shops on the island; some call it the best thrift store in Bali. It's in Denpasar, away from the tourist areas, so combine it with a trip from Canggu or Kuta.
One last thing
Do the vintage stores by day: GrandKids opens 11:00–19:00 and is closed on Mondays, The Conscious Society closes at 18:00. Start the evening with sunset at Potato Head; according to Google, Apache Reggae Bar only opens at 20:00 and runs until 3:00. Everything looks close on the map, but getting between Canggu, Seminyak and Kuta can take longer than you'd think, so leave some slack.
More on Bali: what to see, Ubud: what to see, where to eat and drink.
